Just finished my last cheer camp...ever!

Monday, July 29, 2013

This weekend I traveled to the University of Tennessee to complete my last cheer camp ever! I am not sure that it has hit me yet. After all I still have a whole year of Cincinnati tradition ahead of me. I try not to concentrate too much on those sad thoughts, although they were definitely creeping up on me through out the weekend. With all that being said, let's just say that I have the BEST TEAM EVER!! I have been on many many sports teams and the bond and relationship that I have with these wonderful people doesn't compare to anyone else. I am very blessed to say that they are my best friends, and this doesn't include my amazing coaches that keep us in line and keep us looking our best. It is something that only comes along once in a life time and I value every minute that I get to spend with them. Of course there are frustrating times and we get on each other's nerves, but when push comes to shove we do our best to pull together and get the job done. U.C. cheerleading prides itself in being some of the best game day cheerleaders in the country and we love to show off what #BearcatNation is all about. We realize what an honor it is to represent our school and we want to do our best 100% of the time. I must say that our effort definitely paid off. We got 2nd in sideline, 1st in cheer, 1st in fight song, 1st in game planning, overall most collegiate award, and we won the camp leadership award (voted on by the other campers) We had tough competition including the host of the camp, the Tennessee Vols. I can't explain to you the feeling I get when other staff instructors come up to me and start spelling out B-E-A-R-C-A-T-S. (what we do at the end of our fight song) It's in that moment when I am reassured that I attend the best university in the country. This camp is the perfect start to an amazing season! I don't know about you but with this slightly chilly weather I can smell football season...I have one thing left to say BEAT PURDUE!
Day 1. Ready to do some business.
Caitlin & I standing in front of the new turf they just installed before leaving.

Then Kevin & Guenther decided to make fun of us...

Meet the cheerleader's new mascot, Herman. The girl to the right of me made this in class this year. She's a fashion design student in DAAP.

Literally skipping for joy haha

This is a 100% accurate description of our relationship.

Alex, a.k.a the hand stand contest winner, is playing with his bubbles that he won before doing final evaluations!

One of our instructors, Courtney (who cheered at LSU) talking to our coaches about who knows what!

The relationship between a top girl (Caitlin) & middle layer (me) is one of a kind! I am SO proud of what we accomplished together this weekend.

This is Carsen! She's on UC's dance team & on the core UDA staff. One of the most talented dancers I have ever seen in my life!
Check out Kevin's smile during the fight song! Couldn't have asked for a better partner!

My little baby freshman stayed with me all week for pre-camp practices. The best thing about Carly & Naomi wasn't that you couldn't even tell they were freshman they acted so maturely, but they are some of the sweetest girls I know!
