Life gets crisp in the fall

Thursday, October 24, 2013

Hello all! I must apologize for being so absent! School, cheer, and work are consuming my life right now and with basketball season kicking off Saturday it's about to get even crazier! I can hardly believe it. As much as I love cheering football games, basketball also has just as many perks. People ask me which one I prefer and every time I say both. Football means fall, being in front of thousands and thousands of fans, and let's be honest it has a certain nostalgia to it. However basketball means staying inside where it's warm, having better access to the fans, and the tradition behind Cincinnati basketball. When we cheer a basketball game we are assigned a "corner" to go to. This is where we go to stunt and tumble before the game starts and at differnt time-outs. The same people buy season tickets every year, so we have become attached to these people. I am anxious to go visit the same sweet old man who always brings his wife and another couple to join him. He is a true Cincinnati basketball fan who I've loved to visit every game for what will be three years this season.  Also, we're supposed to be pretty dang good with the new recruits we signed last year. It's a new season with so much promise!

BUT football season is not over! We've had our ups and downs this year, but within the last two games we have made significant progress each time. Having a new coach and learning the way he likes to do things isn't an easy process. The boys seem to adjust more and more each game, finally clicking to play as one team. It's an exciting process to watch and to see how they grow together and fix small details that add up to them making big plays. Last Saturday was our homecoming game vs. UCONN and we won big 41-16. After the game I wasn't feeling very well so I decided to go home for a relaxing evening with my family. Sunday I woke up, went to church, and finally started to feel better. There is this cute little apple orchard about two miles from my house that has been there for years. My mom, sister, and grandma and I decided to stop by. Mainly because they kept ranting about their apple cider so I decided to try it for my self. (It definitely lived up to all the hype) It was a beautiful day and the most perfect way to end my weekend. The leaves are almost in full peak, making it the best part of autumn. I hope you all have enjoyed the month of October as much as I have!

The best apples. Ever.

I have a half gallon of this deliciousness in my fridge…regretting not getting a whole gallon!

When we understand that we are not under the law, but under grace, we will release a vital key to the fruit of the spirit- joy.
