Life of a Cincy Chick: August 2013

Hello my friends! I hope you all are doing well! I am sitting in my apartment on my last night of summer break. Tomorrow I start my fourth year of college. I can't even begin to tell you how weird that sounds. I remember walking to class my first day of freshman year completely scared out of my mind. I called my mother crying, begging her to come pick me up and take me home. (This was a daily occurrence throughout the entire year haha) I thought to myself all the time that I wish I could just fast forward these four years and get on with my life. My oh my has my thought process changed. My dad told me my first week of school while at Youngstown State that I should try and make at least one friend that I would later have in my wedding. In my mind I was thinking "Yeah right, that will literally never happen. Ever." To now thinking "If I were to get married tomorrow I think I could narrow the list down to about fifteen girls who would need to be standing by my side." My college experience is a true testament that if you give God full control of your life that He can do anything through you. Faith is taking things one day at a time and not worrying about things that are... 1. Out of your control and 2. A long ways down the road. If you told me four years ago I would be where I'm at I don't think that I would've believed you. I am so grateful for every experience I have had and I can't wait to see where the Lord leads me this year!

Anyway...so back to my title "Home Sweet Home" I have FINALLY finished working on my apartment! I still need to add a few things here and there but that's a part of the process for any room you re-do. It's still exciting to stumble upon things at T.J. Maxx that will add to the character of your place. In my opinion your room is yours, and it should be a place where you feel safe, secure, at peace, and relaxed. It is your sanctuary to come home to after you've had an exhausting day of school, work, or practice. This is what I tried doing with my studio apartment!

I painted this for one of the teachers at my old elementary school. They just recently added new baby girl, Cora, to their sweet little family.

This painting isn't staying here...I painted it for one of the twirlers in the band & I am about to give it to her this week!

One of my favorite parts of the day is waking up in the morning, drinking my coffee, & watching the Today Show. This was the first morning I got to do that. Bliss.

At first my parents were going to take this cabinet down, but this thing was not budging. My mom being the genius she is thought that I should store my art supplies in here. So that's what exactly what I did. Mothers know best is proving itself to be more & more true!
